Chinese Mobile Phone TFT-LCD Module Market Demand, 3Q 2009

Abstract

With increasing export of Chinese non-brand mobile phones as well as considerations over shortage of mother glass, cell panel and driver IC shipment volume to Chinese module makers both saw significant growth in 2Q 2009. However, affected by China' s overall economic performance and regulations over non-brand mobile phones in various emerging markets, it is projected that Chinese non-brand mobile phone shipments will be compromised. Therefore, it is expected that 3Q cell panel shipment will see slight growth at best while LCD driver IC shipment will post declines in 3Q. This research analyzes the supply and demand of TFT-LCD panels for use in Chinese mobile phones by observing the shipments of key mobile phone panel components cell panels and LCD driver ICs.
