This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J9120103) analyzes the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) IT market results and provides market sizing forecasts for 20092013, based on the results of IDC' s Japan Small and Medium Business Markets: IT Spending Trend Survey conducted in February 2009, product information from vendor reports up to March 2009, and the latest economic conditions. Due global financial crisis in the latter half of 2008 and the subsequent economic recession, IT spending by Japan SMBs is forecast to experience negative growth in 2009, with a recovery towards positive growth coming in 2011. On the other hand, SMBs carry various management concerns such as "finding ways to improve sales," and many businesses are expecting IT utilization to help them solve these problems.
"A review of businesses aimed at SMBs by IT vendors, and the provision of solutions that address the management concerns of SMBs will be the key to expanding the Japan SMB IT market in the medium term," says Hitoshi Ichimura, market analyst, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
