This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J9030108) provides the results and forecasts for the Japan enterprise VoIP equipment market for 20081H09 and 20092013, respectively. The enterprise VoIP equipment market slumped in 2008 due to the impact of the changes in the Japan economy, and this trend continued in 1H09. The deterioration of the economy over the last few years will result in reduced IT spending by users and the continued slump of the enterprise VoIP equipment market. However, IDC forecasts that as the economy improve, demand for replacements will also pick up and the market will gradually get back onto the path of recovery.
"In order to preserve the Japan enterprise VoIP equipment market, vendors and sales channels should reduce the spending risks perceived by users through establishing attractive pricing systems, such as licenses, and provide contracts that guarantee results," says Takashi Manabe, research manager, Communications, IDC Japan.
