  • Pontoon Boats
  • Houseboats
  • Utility Boats
  • Sailboats

  • Rowboats
  • As the U.S. economy began to gather steam, the market for pleasure boats rebounded quickly. U.S. manufacturers? sales rose by an average of more than 10% per year in 2004 and 2005, topping the $7 billion mark for the first time. Although the market will continue to improve over the next two years, sales should advance at a more moderate pace. Don't miss our comprehensive analysis of overall market dynamics, including our short- and long-term forecasts.
  • Sales growth varies dramatically within this industry. In terms of motorboats, we expect inboard cabin cruisers and center-console I/O models to be among the best performers in 2006. In the nonpowered segment, the tiny canoe market should turn in the strongest sales gains. Our in-depth market coverage tracks current and projected sales in every major boating category.
  • Sailboats have consistently represented only 4% to 5% of U.S. manufacturers? pleasure boat sales. In unit terms, North American production is currently increasing by less than 3% per year, and smaller vessels (those less than 20 feet in length) account for three-fourths of production. Foreign demand for U.S.-made sailboats has been quite strong, however. The value of U.S. sailboat exports jumped by 51.3% in 2005, boosted by sharp increases in shipments to Italy, the Netherlands, and Mexico.
  • Imports captured just under 20% of the U.S. pleasure boat market, in dollar terms, in 2005. Imports of inboard motorboats increased by 7.3% to total $728.6 million that year, or just over half of the total value of U.S. imports in 2005. Our extensive foreign trade data tracks unit and dollar imports, as well as average unit prices, detailed by type of pleasure boat and by country of origin.
  • The number of boating accidents continues to decline each year, despite the growing number of boats on the water.Among the top ten motorboat markets, disposable personal income is rising fastest in Florida, California, and Minnesota.Participation rates for most traditional watersports activities (boating, fishing, waterskiing, etc.) are declining. This report examines the key factors that impact the industry's bottom line.
  • Brunswick Corporation, Godfrey Marine, Bombardier Recreational Products, Fountain Powerboat Industries, Yamaha Motor Co., and Malibu Boats West are just a few of the major manufacturers profiled in this report. Get all the latest news on sales performance, marketing strategies, new product development, mergers and acquisitions, foreign ventures, and other recent activities of the movers and shakers in the industry.
